Hikvision is the camera range we fit most often — for homes, business premises, guesthouses, warehouses and yards. Installed anywhere in South Africa.

We are certified installers for the brands we work with, Hikvision included. That is the difference between cameras that were mounted and cameras that were specified.

Who it suits

Anyone who wants cameras that will still be recording usable footage in two years. Hikvision covers everything from a single camera over a front door to a multi-camera site with a PTZ tracking the yard, which means we can specify the same platform whether you have three cameras or thirty.

Mounted properly, angled deliberately. The bracket matters as much as the camera.

What we install

• Turret and bullet cameras — the workhorses. Fixed lens, chosen per position for the distance and detail that position actually needs.
• PTZ cameras — pan, tilt and zoom for yards, driveways and large open areas, where one camera covering a wide area beats four covering corners of it.
• ColorVu cameras — full colour after dark instead of grey infrared, where the position and lighting justify it.
• NVRs and DVRs — on-site recording sized to the retention period you want, not to whatever was in the box.
• Remote viewing — live and recorded footage on your phone, set up and tested before we leave.

What an install involves

1. Site visit — we walk the property and work out which positions give real coverage. This is the step that separates a camera system from a collection of cameras.
2. Design — camera types per position, cable routes, recorder location and network requirements.
3. Written quote — per camera, so you can start with the positions that matter and add later.
4. Installation — cabling, mounting, recorder setup and network configuration.
5. Handover — we set up the app on your phone and show you how to find and export footage. Exporting matters: footage you cannot get off the system is not evidence.

What happens if it fails?

• Internet down — recording continues on site. You lose remote viewing, not the footage.
• Load-shedding — battery or inverter backup keeps cameras and recorder live through an outage. We quote it plainly rather than leaving you to find out.
• Drive health warnings — so a failing hard drive is replaced before it takes your footage with it.
• Support — phone and WhatsApp during business hours, Monday to Friday.

Common questions

How many cameras do I need?
Fewer than most quotes suggest, if they are positioned properly. We would rather fit four cameras that cover what matters than eight that cover the sky.

How long is footage kept?
However long you want, within reason — it is a function of camera count, resolution and drive size. Tell us the retention you need and we will size it.

Can I view it from my phone?
Yes, live and recorded, from anywhere with a signal.

Will it work at night?
Yes. Where full colour after dark is worth having, we specify ColorVu for that position rather than across the board.

Can you add to my existing system?
Usually. Tell us what recorder you have and we will tell you honestly whether adding to it or replacing it is the better spend.
