Access Control

Know who is in the building, and stop re-keying every time someone leaves.

Tags, codes and fingerprints instead of keys, for offices, business premises, body corporates and landlords. Installed anywhere in South Africa.

The problem

Somebody resigns and you are quoted for a re-key on every external door. A contractor still has a key from eighteen months ago. Something goes missing over a weekend and there is no way to establish who was in the building. Meanwhile reception is buzzing people in without seeing who they are.

What we install

  • Tag, code and fingerprint readers — on your main entrance, back doors, server room, stock room, wherever access needs to be controlled rather than assumed.
  • User management — add a new employee in seconds, remove a departing one in seconds. No locksmith, no new keys, no cost per person.
  • Time and door restrictions — cleaners on weekday evenings only, contractors for the duration of a job, management everywhere.
  • Access reporting — a record of every entry, so an after-hours question has an answer rather than a theory.
  • Intercom and visitor handling — reception can see and speak to a visitor and release the door without leaving the desk.

Pricing

Access control is priced per door, because that is the only honest way to quote it — a main entrance with a fingerprint reader and a stock room with a tag reader are not the same job.

Where smart locks are the right answer rather than a full wired system, those start at R2 565 per lock. For a wired access control installation we quote after the walkthrough, itemised per door, so you can phase it.

How it works

  1. Site assessment — we walk the building, look at every door you want controlled, and check what your existing doors and frames can take.
  2. Design — which doors get which reader, where the cabling runs, what power each point needs, and which doors must stay fail-safe for escape.
  3. Written quote — per door, phased if you would rather start with the main entrance and expand.
  4. Installation and enrolment — hardware fitted, staff enrolled, access levels set with you rather than guessed at.
  5. Handover and support — your office manager is shown how to add and remove people, and how to pull a report. Phone and WhatsApp support during business hours, Monday to Friday.

What happens if it fails?

  • Power failure and load-shedding. Controllers run on battery backup. Escape routes are specified fail-safe, so they release and let people out when power drops — that is a life-safety requirement, not an option.
  • Mechanical override. Doors retain a physical means of entry for the people who should have it.
  • Offline operation. Readers keep working from their stored user list when the network is down. You lose live reporting, not access.
  • Support. Phone and WhatsApp during business hours, Monday to Friday.

Common questions

What happens in a power failure?
Battery backup keeps the system running. Doors on escape routes are fail-safe and release, so nobody is ever locked in.

Can we keep our existing doors?
Usually. It depends on the door, the frame and how it is currently secured. We check this on the site visit before quoting, not after.

How many users does it support?
Depends on the system specified. Tell us your headcount and how much you expect it to grow, and we will size it with room to spare.

Can we pull a report of after-hours entries?
Yes. Filtered by door, by person or by time range.

What about fire regulations and emergency egress?
Escape routes must let people out without a key or special knowledge. We specify fail-safe hardware on those doors and will work with your fire consultant or building inspector so the installation passes rather than surprises you at sign-off.

What happens when somebody leaves?
You remove them from the system. That is the whole point — no re-keying, no collecting keys, no wondering.
